Belgium Compensates Holocaust Theft Victims

Belgium is compensating Jews for the property that was stolen from them during the Holocaust. While they welcome the recognition, the Belgian Judaism Foundation stresses that there's still much work left to be done on this issue.

STORY:
Belgium and its banks and insurance companies will pay Holocaust victims over 35 million euros. A government-sponsored commission said they will be compensated for the theft of their possessions during World War Two.
In addition, over 75 million euros will be given to a Belgian foundation to honor the victims of the Holocaust and to Belgian Jewish community for its social, religious and cultural projects.

A Senate report confirmed last year that the Belgian state had actively collaborated with Nazi Germany in persecuting Jews.

"After fighting, struggling and working for 12 years I think this is an important stage for the Jewish community, that Jewish war victims are finally recognized and that the issue of stealing Jewish property has been largely resolved."

The problem here is that there's not enough evidence to find out who took the survivors' property.

Nearly 6,000 victims and relatives have claimed compensation, 80 percent of them granted sums ranging from 400 euros to over 20,000 euros to cover stolen property, unpaid wages, furniture, jewelry and businesses. In some cases, the loss can not be determined.

and while you are at it, belgium, why don't you give every cent you have to jews. take money from every citizen/resident and give it to israel and jews all over the world. it's hard to locate every victim. most are no longer around, so give to all just to be safe. there's a new victim born every day. so belgium, you can't go wrong if you give ALL your money away until there's nothing left.

Israel should tell the countries that are going to give hundreds of millions of dollars to the reconstruction of Lebanon that the money will be transferred only after we have a sign of life from Israel's kidnapped soldiers and they are released as stated in UN Resolution 1701.

Poland and Jewish restitution question if any?

That sum of money will leave Poland broke, and in doing so they are throwing peasants off their land, tenants out of their homes, school children out of schools, that's what they're doing.
