On a recent warm night in July, the 1st Annual Lake Erie Surf Guitar Festival was held at the Lime Spider in Akron, OH. Join us as we listen to the hardcore surf music of the Purple Knifs in their first Ohio gig. Started in homage to legendary 1960's Cleveland TV host Ghoulardi, aka Ernie Anderson, the Purple Knifs first formed in New York in the early 90's. All homegrown Ohio natives, Chris Butler (formerly of Tin Huey and the Waitresses), Ted Lawrence (Supertones, Human Tornadoes), Baker Rorick (Cool It Reba, Life in a Blender, Kid Java) and Johnny Teagle (The Walking Clampets, Lucky Tigers, Vice Royals) found themselves united in their love for surf music and Ghoulardi. Knif (which is fink spelled backwards) was part of the madcap beatnik's lexicon, as in "All the World's a Purple Knif."
The USA says no to the Obama agenda.
