Olney pancake race 2008

The annual Olney pancake race held 5 February 2008. Open to women resident in the town for 3 months. First run in 1445, revived in 1948.

Now complemented by an equivalent pancake race in Liberal, Kansas with friendly rivalry between the two since 1950.

How nice to see the town I grew up in has not gone to drastic a change.I well remember the pancake races when they were a local matter.Canon Colllins was at the Churh to greet the winnere along with the church warden who got a kiss!! Sidney Fracis Xavier Morgan was the starter and always wore the most magnificent brass helmet on the day,

Circa late 1950's to 1970's.Olney always in my heart.
