@selllout101 fair point, but you don't need to own a rowing tank to train effectively. In Scotland, our association has one that any club can hire. Surely the state/national rowing associations have shared facilities like this, or the private schools hire out theirs?

@ClydeRowing i was a rower for 4 years at a public high school and we could never in a million years afford a indoor rowing tank.

@selllout101 wrong wrong wrong. Another misconception about rowing. The equipment costs yes, thats why you join a club. Juniors I coach pay £2 a week to train up to six sessions a week which covers all equipment and coaching. The average competition has an entry fee of £5 to £8. Compare that with any other sport. I will agree that sometimes rowing puts over a posh image, which I think holds us back - but people of any background can and do get involved.

@em1ly It's for places where they can't get on the water. Too cold/frozen etc. It's also good for teaching new people how to row before they launch into a boat.
