Pleasant Grove High School Concert Band performed the "Persis Overture" by James L. Hosay at the Golden Empire Festival at CSU Sacramento on 4/19/08. They received very high scores and triple superior (1-1-1) ratings for their performance!

  • Did they have twp rooms for playing at Golden Empire?

    cause we played on stage

  • Yes they had 2 rooms. Don't know how they determined which room to use because bands the same size as our high school band were crammed into that little room, but the small bands like our middle school band were swimming in the huge auditorium.

  • erm i tink the horn solo had a lil mistakes in his tune.He tried to play the note softer but ended up in the tune. But i tink is a accident.I same too played lik tat last time like a few months ago,but slowly improved.I tink he is nervous,i understand as if im not wrong hes the onli one tat play french horn in this band.mayb shuld increase the slots,it would b beta.btw i like the part where he played after the drum solo was gd

  • Thanks for your comments. This is a high school band and actually didn't have a french horn player at all. This player switched over from trombone, as well as another player on saxophone to cover the horn parts. It's not a matter of not having the slots.

  • Wow. totally sped up the intro before the first 3/4. Oboe solo needed some more work. but all in all a pretty good performance.

  • Thanks for your comment! Yeah, nerves got the speed up a bit. Clarinets were hanging on for the ride! :)
