How does the Gauss Gun work?
When the steel ball is pulled towards the magnet it creates an impulse of energy at the speed of sound. This energy carries through to the other side and expels the weakest link the magnetic chain at a high speed.

  • @ThdeGreatestOne you could use a 555 timer, optocoupler, copper pipe, and a trigger to make it

  • we did this in class

  • were can i find the rail any help would be appreciated.

  • soo if u can put that into an acutall gun then you can sling the ball wich hits the magnet and then it will fire the ball with a spiral shape almost like a real bullet but lil different and then POW Right in the KISser!

  • @ThdeGreatestOne i'm sorry to burst your bubble but a rail gun would be too complex, you would need to create a complex timer that would turn each electromagnet on and then off again within a fraction of a second, not only from the starting magnet, but each magnet in the chain. there is a reason why such weapons are not being used in war and that is that its just to impractical for a reliable weapon

  • nerds FTW

  • @airsoftsniper51254 To be fair, he did explain how it works. Different from just shooting.

If you are looking for real science, go read a book on whichever topic you find attractive, or watch a well funded documentary ;).

  • or just throw the steel ball...

  • you should put two so one fires into another.

  • can you make a telsa coil that would be cool
