Crews working in the transmission corridor in Albany.
They are backfilling over the ducts they've laid which will carry the 220kV cable circuit and fibre-optic cables. They are using fluidised thermal backfill (FTB), which is a concrete mix that improves heat removal from around cables, as well as protecting them. This is part of the North Auckland and Northland grid upgrade project.
