As part of Summit for Someone, I will be attempting to summit Mount Rainier, the highest peak in the continental U.S.. With your donation and my summit attempt, the Big City Mountaineers program will help benefit over 200 at-risk teens nationwide in 2008. Big City Mountaineers provides urban teenage youth in need of positive adult mentoring with challenging, safe outdoor experiences designed to build self-esteem and positively impact their beliefs about themselves and others. Big City Mountaineers program has been shown to improve teens beliefs with regard to positive values, social competences, positive identity, and support.
The Summit for Someone benefit climb series is a fundraising program to benefit the at-risk teen participants of Big City Mountaineers, a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
