Taken onboard a Continental Express CRJ-200 operated by Chautauqua Airlines during take off at Amarillo. You'd think we were in the 777 or something as long as it took this plane to get airborne. Good thing we had a long runway. I must be use to the ERJs. Well there isn't much to see; it's Amarillo!

  • Where were you flying to?

  • IAH Houston Intercontinental

  • doesn't expressjet run jungle jets as opposed to CRJs?

pretty sure this aint a crj regardless of the airline

  • I give up!!! Desc says what it is. It is a CRJ. All u got to do is look out the window!

  • where were you going? that was a long T/O roll, however "triple 7's" can take off pretty quick.

  • There is only one place we can go and that is Houston. Almost everytime I take a trip on Continental I have to go to Houston. If not Houston its off to Newark.

  • @burningcow422 this particular flight is operated by Chautauqua as opposed to ExpressJet under the Continental Airlines brand (which they did for a time)

  • @congaleader2000 Anything can take off pretty quickly if it's not heavily loaded.

  • The runway length at Amarillo Airport is...13,502 X 200 feet wide...one of the longest in the country...it was built as a large B-52 base in the 1950's and is one of a few that when the 747 carries the space shuttle back to florida, is used to land and fuel the returning 747 and cargo. Also it was built with the B-36 in mind which used alot of runway (loaded) before the four jet engines where added at the end of the wings giving it the nickname "6 turning and 4 burning" ..Fats-Amarillo,TX

  • 41 seconds to get airborne.

  • Maybe it took so long to takeoff because the captain didn't use full throttle. Usually if there is a long runway they try to save some fuel, whatever the reason being, it's still really cool. You have very nice fotage of all the COEX Crj200s and not too many people have that yet. Good job!

  • it's an RJ lol, you can easily tell by the wing.

  • no this isnt expressjet its chautauqua operating as coex on the crj200. they took over some of xjets flying in iah

  • i know ive never seen a continental rj b4.
