It's a Gershwin song called Someone To Watch Over Me. It's been covered by Sinatra, Streisand and Ella Fitzgerald, among others. Counting Crows is known for kicking in a whole different song in the middle of one of their own. On this video, the song they kicked in was one of their own, Raining in Baltimore. They have also been known to use Bruce Springsteen's Thunder Road, Oh Susannah, Fountain of Wayne's Radiation Vibe and others.

hey i went to the counting crows concert at Jones Beach Theater on August 1st. And during Rain King the band slowed and he started singing very low, and the words were just amazing. It had something to do with "having a key" to their heart. Or something to do with a key like, my heart is locked and your the key or something. Anyone have a clue what song/poem/lyrics it is?

Hearing Rain King live is like Christmas morning when it gets to around 3:40... the best part of these shows is wondering what the variance will be and how fuckin cool its gonna be. This is where going to a CC shows turn into an incredible experience. My fav is the Radiation Vibe one.

I never could figure out after several hundred concerts and I don't know how many of my own shows people pay good money the go in and don't shut up at any point in the show. There are a lot of times when the band really would love a couple moment where the house goes silent except for the band. anyway...
