Ashoka Fellow Katherine Freund is the founder of Independent Transportation Network, a nonprofit community-based transportation service that helps people over 60 years old (and adults with visual impairments) continue to live with dignity in their own homes. This is critical for older adults to remain vital to both economic and social health of their communities.

ITN offers thousands of elderly citizens with safe and affordable transportation options for any purpose—24 hours a day, seven days a week—and has 20 independently operated affiliates across the country.
