Dungeon Defenders - Tower Defense? I use Auras and Traps defense now

When I started, Dungeon Defender was a nice casual Tower Defense game. Now, in order to experience the new content and challenges and get the best rewards, it's better to use Auras and Traps now instead of walls and towers.

Auras and Traps can't be targeted by monsters do they don't get destroyed.
You need an avatar that can deal lots of damage, which Tower Speced characters don't do.

Also, I finally made it to the end of this wave, after trying for a few days and upgrading the loot I find, then, well you see what happens in the end.
