The new add made by Nissan for the new X-trail - Bonavista. This car was made to represent the beauty of Bonavista, located in Newfoundland, Canada... yet its seems again that the big names are once again picking on poor Newfoundland. • @fr00b91 If you've lived in newfoundland all your life you're probably not even aware of just how you do speak...I didn't know I had an accent until I went to live in Toronto...and remember this is a commercial it is going to be a little different so that the general populace can understand..

  • I love this commercial :)

  • If this is really the way they talk in Newfoundland I REALLY want to go there! It's so cute!

  • @allthesestars .....The strength of the respective influences varies from place to place depending on where the first, or most, settlers came from. The Codroy Valley for instance, spoke Scottish Gaelic along with English up until the mid 20th century. West of that, on the Port Au Port peninsula, and the surronding area, there's a distinct French culture. There's a group of people who speak a cross between English and French (most speak very americanized english there these days) called Capers.

  • @allthesestars The reason it sounds like a "canadian accent, heavily marked by Irish and Scottish" is because the feller playing the part is Canadian (from the mainland) not Newfoundland. He's a bleeding Nova Scotian actually, mainlanders don't like to hire us. And he's not doin a proper job honestly. The real Newfoundland accent is a blend, mostly of, West Country (Bristol, Dorset ect.) and southeast Ireland (Waterford, Wexford,) with Scottish and Cockney too.....

  • @MissKourtney97 Eh by.

  • Nee-son. Epic.

  • @Metallicazack

Well they are similar in ways don't get me wrong! But the yooper dialect borrows a lot from how the finnish speak because there was a high immigrant population from Finland in the U.P. back in the day.

  • lol, thats one great commercial!

  • @lulzwhot

Ha, St.Jhons. Try commin down da bay. youll see more than more heavy thick accent der buddy
