READ FIRST!!!

THIS IS AN EXPERIMENT, NOT A "HOW TO" VIDEO!!
I filmed it for the website www.snopes.com to test the validity of the claim that one could make a tomato glow with these items.
I went into the experiment without an expectation of outcome, recreated it as best I could, and documented the results.

THIS IS NOT A PARTICULARLY ENTERTAINING PIECE.
Think of it like "Mythbusters" without the production value.
DON'T WATCH unless you're interested in seeing a fairly UNEVENTFUL documentation of an EXPERIMENT. I used minimal edits to show that I was doing everything without tampering with the experiment.

THIS IS NOT A "HOW TO" VIDEO! I'm simply documenting the process as instructed by the original video.

If you watched this without reading the description and now you feel like I "wasted" ten minutes of your life, congratulations, you're a complete idiot.

ALSO - I'm tired of you people posting "You did it wrong"! If I did it wrong, don't TELL ME I did it wrong, MAKE a video of you making it WORK! I won't believe a thing you say til you do.

  • Thank you for your curiousity and willingness to make a mess in your kitchen :) You should have worn gloves when touching bleach... Anyway, sincerely thank you.

  • @scepticulous Thank you for the kind words. It's important to keep a skeptical mind in this age of viral hoaxes. And YES - I should have also had eye protection on as well. I have to confess this was thrown together a bit hastily and yes I do confess that this wasn't exactly up to scientific method standards, but I think I demonstrated the unlikelihood of a tomato's ability to glow with nothing but household chemicals. FYI this was originally posted for snopes.com

  • Take HOW TO out of the title then!!

  • @MrBadUsernames Well, the problem with that is this isn't "How to" this is "RE: How to" if you notice from the title. It's a response to "How to make a glowing tomato". Read carefully!

  • @MetalTimesInfinity, Greetings. I managed to make flowers glow as it was suggested by Nurdrage, but for tomato I am waiting for the luminol to arrive... Bought some online. Maybe with luminol it shall glow. There must be a way for the bloody tomato shine and razzle dazzle :) My best regards.
