She won an Oscar for her role and the title song Jean by Rod McKeun was nominated for one but didn't win.

For those who do not know Maggie Smith plays Professor McGonagalin the Harry Potter films.

Jean Brodie is my second favorite performance of Dame Maggie's (the first being The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne. If you haven't watched it, you definitely should! It's the best dramatic performance by an actress I've ever seen). This movie is just such a classic.
