And Japan says it's ready for North Korea's planned rocket launch, which may come as early as this weekend. Japan and South Korea say the rocket launch is actually a test of a long-range missile. The missile would be capable of carrying a nuclear warhead as far as Alaska or Hawaii. Tokyo residents look nervously at an unusual sight today. Missile launchers guard the nation's capital. Japan's government says it's ready for the North Korean rocket launch. Both South Korea and Japan say the launch is a disguised test of a long-range Taepodong-2 missile. It's designed to carry a warhead as far as U.S. territory. North Korea says it's part of a peaceful space program. The launch could take place anytime between Saturday and Wednesday. Japan has sent missile-intercepting ships along the rocket's flight path. It says it could shoot down any debris such as falling booster stages that threaten to strike its territory, including near Tokyo. [Masafumi Miki, Tokyo Resident]:

"Having these in the middle of town makes it feel like we are in the midst of a war, and it makes me a bit nervous." [Asami Yamamoto, Tokyo Resident]:

"If there's actually a chance of the rocket falling and it is a danger to people, I'd like them to shoot it down, but if there's no chance of that, I don't want them to fire." The United States, South Korea, and Japan are pushing for U.N. sanctions as punishment for the launch. They say it violates U.N. resolutions. But China, the closest thing North Korea has to a major ally, is almost certain to block any new sanctions. [Takeo Kawamura, Japanese Government Spokesman]:

"As North Korea is already saying that is has completed its preparations, we have no reason to believe otherwise. We are ready to act according to the expectation that they will act as they have announced." North Korea threatens that any attempt to intercept the missile will be considered an act of war.

  • If N korea attack Japan. Japan will kick the N koreas ass

  • @FUACLU They were outnumbered, thats why you won ;)

  • North Korea leaders would be dumb if they start a war, there are many nations in the world that would stand up against them if so and war brings no good to this world at all... only death.

If they should start a nuclear war most of their nukes will be shot down and while the USA send their nukes.

According to Wikipedia USA have ~8,500 nukes while North Korea have about 10. Old Soviet Union has about 11,000. Even that most are not active, North Korea are still outnumbered. Wars are still bad...
