  • It's disgusting and disgraceful that convicted felons and complete idiots are welcomed with open arms into the military, but a smart, disciplined, talented man who is gay is thrown out. That's just DUUUUMB!

  • You obviously don't get that being in the military is not just a job, but a LIFESTYLE. No heterosexual man 'forgets' or can 'ignore' his sexual orientation when he joins (which spans at LEAST 4 years to start), and it is discriminatory to ask homosexuals to attempt to do so. A policy mandating a personal lie is useless and divisive. More often, its used as a tool against others for personal grudges, or its used by shitbirds to get out of the military. I've not once seen it benefit anyone.

  • fought for his country, then gets kicked out because of his sexuality, Hmmmmm????

  • i agree with permaglo, 110%

  • this is all fucked up, i totally disagree with homosexuals being discharged. i'm in the service as well, i'm not homosexual but, they're americans too, what the fuck are YOU PUSSIES afraid of!?!, this contradicts what this country is about, FREEDOM.. anyone who disagrees is simply ignorant. you got the balls to talk shit about them, but no balls to fight next to them, you disgust me, even you chain of command. this is rediculous

  • D: this is why I hate the army(including my cousin) they don't let gays in, what's wrong with them? Would I be let in? I'm bisexual? I like girls along with guys. It matters if your fit to fight! (I'd never join the army anyway.)

  • Your sexual orientation is completely irrelevant to the militia. You pass the training, it means you're fit for combat. That is all that matters.

  • my friend told me this isnt still real, i guess it is. This is ridiculous

  • "The word "opinion" gets used as a shield a lot. It's "my opinion", that means it doesn't matter if it wrong, misleading, or hurts someone else; if you call me on it, you're the intolerant one for not respecting my views."

    Agreed.

  • The Australian military abolished discrimination of gays in the military in the military as a matter of affirming national security. There should be no secrets from the military which could undermine its security making it vulnerable. If a soldier is vulnerable by a secret, then this disables the whole unit, as the soldier is susceptible to blackmail. Gay soldiers do a great job, always have since Alexander the Great.

  • The Australian military does not discriminate and allowed gays to join over 15 years ago. One of the reasons was for security reasons. If you have a secret in the military, you are endangering the security of your unit by being vulnerable to blackmail. Choi is ethically and morally correct. He did not indulge in homosexual activity, he followed his training to be honest, and he served his country well. The shame is the US military rules, written by the US Government.

  • Also, certain groups disagreeing with whether or not gays should be allowed to do certain things ("disagreeing" is such an awesome word for it, you know), hurts homosexuals a hell of a lot more than those same groups getting called bigoted or homophobic.
