a simple 5 minute practice routine, when used on a regular basis, will help you bring the cue through in a straight line more consistantly

  • i must say this drill style tip is very effective cuz i practise every saturday to improve and im slowly improving and i saw this earlier today tried it and i improved a lot

    5 star rating tbh :)

    these are good vids aswell

  • @MrMikeJkay thank you mike

  • I wouldn't want to play you in a match Neil, you have a great cue action. When I try this the cue ball comes back nowhere the tip of my cue and I used to make quite regular century breaks (a very long time ago, I struggle to make a 30 these days). The question is how do I rectify it? Is it a matter do you think of practising the exercise in this video?

  • @HatfulofHollow65 hi there i've tried to send you a message but i can't get through unless you makeyourself a friend .....and i don't want to put that message in comments

  • looks like a good video shame i can't hear anything

  • @18Crossy18 sorry a few have said the same thing .....the equipment i use is really old ......if you can try headphones on you're pc to see if that helps

  • Hi Neil, thanks aplenty for these great videos! Regarding this exercise, I find myself invariably hitting off to the right of the straight line (the error is about a half ball). I try hard to visualize the line of aim, walk into it, and run my eyes up and down the cue ball - object ball centers (sometimes even cue stick) , but somehow always manage to send the cue ball off to the right. This depresses me as I can't move to other exercises before getting this basic thing right. Please help.

  • hi neil , i use the 3/4 , 1/2 , 1/4 method for potting ball , but its very difficult for me find the angles when the object ball is close to the cushion , so i was looking at your videos on potting, the thing i dont understand when i play a shot for eg a 1/2 ball shot , i only look at 1/2 of the ball , so am i suppose to look at the spot when im playing the shot becoz its not working for me , its very difficult for me explain you but i tried my best ,please help me out

  • you have a great tut dude..like to learn more from you :]!

  • hi neil, a good tip i learnt for cue action was from terry griffiths. He basicaly put the back/pink ball on the pink spot, you then had to hit the pink/black square on from the brown spot so the white and black double kiss.So basically its the same drill you did, but without the tunnel and a ball on the pink spot, if you hit any side or didnt hit the ball square on they wouldnt double kiss.

  • @neilmaxman yeeh i will try that cheers
