Yeah, it is most likely the carbs. My 1991 FJ1200 was like this, but I picked up some carb cleaner and it has been good ever since... Hit up your local bike shop!

Hi,
i also have a fj12 (3xw)Make sure that you check the carb diaphrams, for any splits or holes. If they are holed, then paint on some plastidip (do a search for it) as it is good stuff, and a damn sight cheaper than new diaphrams.
