Incredible. It almost sounds like he is mourning over Chopin.

I've never felt what this piece can evoke (on a personnal level) from any other composer. I find Alkan extremely intriguing...no words to describe feelings, only feelings to be felt!

I'm almost certain that, unlike the other etudes, the difficulties in this one aren't insurmountable for the average pianist, barring perhaps the tremolo in the middle. Expressiveness is another thing of course, but this piece doesn't deserve the 'supervillain' status attributed to other major works by Alkan, right? Or am I being incredibly naive?

Try listening to Chopin after this. He seems so simple...

@JPZ16974 because no one wanted to break his hands to play his pieces . Beethoven and chopin are popular among pianists because their pieces are playable and playful

You know, the one thing that irks me about Hamelin's playing is that he doesn't count polyrhythmic passages right. His triplets stall and then play catch-up.

@tomekkobialka Lol : D

@nearenough3 No, truth was that he was extremely anti social to strangers, he never preformed in the public often and there are only 2 pics taken of him.
Where's the first movement. It's my favorite. The only other person who had it took it down : (

@cedricrlongreen It seems kastlesuckstdots has closed his account. But don't worry, I'll give him a good old spanking.
