This segment covers two IAIS BISW jobs I saw at Blue Island Junction today. I made a seperate video dedicated to it since I couldn't fit it all in one.

9:10AM-
The first BISW job switches off of the Rock Island District and heads North. This is probably a BICB "Long West" Train in the process of being built.
IAIS ES44AC #509
IAIS ES44AC #502
IAIS GP38-2 #708

9:35-
25 minutes later, the job switches over to the IHB North of the bridges, then reverses through the junction heading towards the IHB yard.

10:18AM-
Two IAIS Geeps head West across the bridge to the interchange.
IAIS #702
IAIS #717

10:26AM-
The Geeps switch down into the junction and head North across the bridge to pick up some cars.

10:53AM-
The power from the first job returns light after dropping her cars off down by the small CN/IHB yard South. The power then reverses back South then switches tracks further down.

12:04PM-
The second job returns from the IHB and CN with a long line of cars.

  • So, IAIS has GEVOs now!!!! I guess they must have been bought used if I'm correct!!! Btw, great video!!!

  • They were ordered brand new actually.

  • I think that first train was the ethanol train arriving from Iowa. It has mostly tankers and it usually does have that kind of engine consist. Nice video!

  • Nope that wasn't the ethanol. It had other cars in there as well.

  • cool

  • @granskare Where did the money go? Obviously not to the stockholders. And "management" certainly did not leave as multi-millionaires. In fact most former RI management took a stock bath like everyone else did.

  • K5LL, same horn on LIRR DE and DM locomotives...

  • in 1956 our class rode the Rock Island and it was in Blue Island that the cars swayed to and fro and again in the 1970s when I took the Rock Island into Chicago for meetings, darn thing swayed to and fro - management drained the Rock Island dry, not spending anything on maintenance...too bad !

  • Whoa what a video I cannot take my eyes off the screen! haha this is very interesting stuff to know about.

  • I have a Sony Handycam
