I unfortunately don't have a bathtub in my house, just a shower, so I always bathe my ratties in the sink. They like diving down the play with the drain (it's closed off of course).

Would you say your rats are more comfortable in water when they're together? From other videos I've seen they're more skittish when they're in the bath on their own which makes sense the more I think about it. If so then I'll have to give it a go :)

Yeah my 3 boys don't like bathtime at all, they always squeak like mad and try jumping out. You should see the scratches on my arms too.

I would never get a rat because i'll get attached to them and they'll die in 3 years... too short...

Yes, there were originally 12 but one of the boys died when it was a week old. I hope the rest of your new litter does ok. They have so many because not all of them are meant to make it to adulthood in nature.

i would bath my two boy rats but one of them got water in his ear and got an ear infection......it was sad we had to put him down....be careful!

I agree! Always be careful not to get water in your rats' ears. I'm so sorry about your rattie. :(

i tried bathing my little ratty at about that age with his two brothers, and he kept on jumping. he actually got about a foot of air and i was worried he'd hurt himself, so i stopped bathing him. he's about 9 months old now and he keeps his coat quite clean, and i clean his cage every 4 or 5 days... do you think it's worth trying to bathe him again?

It's really a matter of what you are comfortable with. You don't *really* need to bathe them at all. I just think it helps reduce odor build up, especially with the boys. They will often jump but as long as you give them something "safe" to escape the water on, it will reduce the chances of jumping. Let me know how it goes!
