This is the dish I got from a local Craig's List Listing. I am lining it with the Trough Liner Material.

  • Dan,

    Whats the good word are we there yet? LOL i cant wait to see it. The one M.I.T. did is nice but much more expensive and not as easy as yours will be to build. Not to mention as green as yours is due to the recycling of the dish.

  • About half way, I just keep getting side tracked.

    If you ever pick one up from a neighbor, DONT TAKE IT APART:-)

  • Dan*

    Sorry

  • I once saw an article in Popular Science where they covered the dish in mirrors like yours. They left the arms that hold the LNB at the focal point and replaced the LNB with a collector box wich they ran water thru to make steam. They used the motor that turns the dish to track the sun using a photovotaic cell to turn the motor on and off. When the sun would hit the cell it would turn the dish until the cell was in the shade, then turn off. A solar "switch", if you will.

  • it sounds like everyone needs to grow up and be a little more constructive !

  • .

    "I think, I think, I think....." Who in the hell cares what you think!

    Why don't you bozo's go get an engineering degree and contact the manufacturer and do some calculations - instead of sharing your idiot opinions with us all.

  • .

    Yeah your right - your so completely right;

    But I still don't understand you.

  • dan dont let up put a reflector at top focal point and converge the beam further a 14 inch dish at top should really super heat your effort
