I just can't hate Anita Bryant. She's such a loving-mom type. All her anti-gay crusade got her was the destruction of both her career and her marriage. You can say it was a Kharmic thing if you want, but it's cruel to wish divorce and career ruination on anyone. And I'm a gay guy.

I was only 6 years old the day Anita was hit in the face with a pie, so that may be the reason I don't see her the same way as gays who were already adults in 1977. You, and the majority of our community, are not in any way out of line in disdaining her. I choose to disdain only her anti-gay beliefs. The important difference between Anita Bryant and Fred Phelps is that she was mistaken. Phelps is evil. And Kharma caught up with her. She got deep into IRS debt recently from failed music shows.

You must be young. I'm old enough to remember how she fomented hate and violence against gays with her appearances across the country. She encouraged treating homosexuals as second class subhumans who didn't deserve the rights and protection enjoyed by "real Americans". Her entire schtick was anathema to the founding principles of our constitutional republic.

Anita Bryant was never anti-homosexual.She was anti-pedophile whether they were homosexual or not and becase she is a christian the left-wing media lied about her & ruined her career just as they try to do with any celebrity who is a conservative or a republican.Look how the media puts down Pat Boone 7 John Wayne,etc. but Ronald Reagan defeated the liberal media and America is better off because of it.Plus look at all the smokescreens to cover up obama's weak presidency!
