  • I do love that Mr Gariepy was open honest and informative I wish that all councilors would conduct themselves this way. As for Priority Spending I agree with Mr Gariepy money can easily be abused even if you have a group of people dictating where it goes, just ask Roxanne Carr about the $34000 that was spent from Councilor priority funds on a statue in the seniors home that her mother lives in. Thanks Carla for the great videos next time though not so much finger wagging its condescending!

  • @nephitesrcool Interesting! I've access to the priority funding expenditures from when I was writing an article, as well as the online listings. I can't find an amount of $34,000 that Councillor Carr approved or for a statue. I would love to know if anything is missing from the listings. Please let me know if you can identify which expenditure you are referring to - the expenditures are listed under each councillor on the County website (for some reason, it won't let me post the link)

  • Again, the format of this interview is a bit unfortunate, and I'm left kind of wondering what comments were missed in the sections that were cut here.

  • @GarnettGenuis Hi Garnett, you are more than welcome to see the whole 2+ hours of filming that I have. Very little was cut that was pertinent to the topic. Not really sure why there seems to be aggravation over this video. I think Jason came across quite well - articulate and well thought out answers. I came away with a renewed appreciation for the issues and wanted to share that with other Ward 8 residents. Why the antagonism? - Carla

  • Again, not sure about this response - it was not impromptu, it was an "open house" hosted by Jason. At an open house, you ask questions of your Councillor. We had a nice chat, don't understand why that is "unfortunate". - Carla

  • Thanks for the clarification Jason. I will change the description to give it more context.

  • @TricommStrategies This was February or March all of the councillors (accept Gariepy) used some of their priority funds to fund a statue in the Cottonwood seniors home the motion was put forward by Carr, with no mention that her mother is a resident at the facility. To me it casts doubt when there are so many other worth while oppertunities to spend that kind of money.

  • I think you did a great job handling this impromptu meeting and came across as articulate and knowledgable of the issues being discussed. You were able to answer the questions thoroughly and ensure the people interviewing you had the correct information.

  • This is not my video. It was taken during an Open House I host at the Sherwood Park for residents to come and meet with me. The clips are part of an appoximately 2 hour interview (most people come with specific questions...this was more like a media scrum). If you have questions about my responses, you can reach me at gariepy@strathcona.ab.ca.
