Dubstep. Is. Awesome. While some people may hear noise, we hear amazing musical genius. The aural creativity of Dubstep, and its embrace of inharmonic sounds, makes it the most recent member of the long-established Avant Garde community. There is a long history of avant garde musicians and thinkers promoting the concept of noise and non-instrumental sounds as MUSIC, much to the horror of their audience. But over the past century, changes in technology and music genres have primed listeners, allowing mainstream audiences to enjoy the beautiful noise of Skrillex, Bassnectar & the whole Dubstep movement.

Also, the next future sound for pop is synthetic sounds and bass driven beats. Like it's been for 30 years... I'd like to see advancements in rough textured sounds that avoid polished production, but that's technically happening in smaller circles of electronic music and some rock bands. Maybe Baroque influenced glitch tunes?

It's a neat addition to electronic music, but the hype kills it. I'm sick of people talking about Skrillex and Krewella like it's fuckin sliced bread. If you really want to have a good debate over music, talk about why bands like Last Days of Humanity and Swans have reinvented sound theory.

Dub step is okay in my opinion. I'm no hater, but it's not my favorite.

I think this should be broadened to edm as a whole, dubstep only makes up a small part of edm

No, you, my friend, is the shallow one here. Just because you don't perceive or understand dubstep the way some of us do, it doesn't mean it's nonsense or "shallow" as you say. Think of it this way, a deaf person would think that a person dancing to a song is insane because he couldn't hear the music. I'm not hating, I'm just saying you should be more open-minded, it's a sign of maturity and intelligence. Try it.
