Well, emeek was complaining, ranting and all about how windows 7 was copying the dock and how they even copied the popup thing on the itunes icon where you can choose what you want to play and all...

you've gotta give it to microsoft, though. They are so good ad copying that they copy apple's ideas even before apple has them :-/

  • @nemirc yes, i had that problem, but it happens rarely, like one or twice a month. an icon will bounce 3 times, not endlessly. still u can make the dock not to zoom, or u can hide it. at least i can change the dock's size at will, not by stupid snapping. and again M$... still a copycat.

  • @crashnoww superbar it's not. not to mention the half screen previews. if u open 100 apps in win, that superbar will e a disaster, but my dock will still be usable. but these facts doesn't change the fact that M$ it's just a copycat. they can't think for themselves, they need apple to show them how to do shit right.

  • @nemirc yes, the dock gets wider, but the size remains the same. the icons will get smaller only when the dock reaches the screen edges. the position will not change for pinned apps and if u can't recognize an app's icon few pixels to the left or right, then u are a retard. at least it's doesn't create multiple pages like the superbar does. u can replace the blue light with anything so that's not a problem. and an attention whore?! i guess the big orange, intermittent fucking box in win...

  • @crashnoww And whoever thought that jumping and zooming icons was a good idea was drunk or something. You can't slightly hover the mouse on the bottom part of your app (and in some you NEED to go there) because the dock will automatically jump so you end up clicking a freaking icon instead of whatever you needed.

Also, having an icon jumping endlessly because an app "needs your attention" when you're focused on your work is extremely alienating.

  • @crashnoww the big difference is that at least on this taskbar icons don't change positions every time a new app launches, and it's not an attention whore like in OSX.

Also, the visual cue for running apps is more noticeable. In OSX the running app has an extremely tiny light below.

In OSX the dock will get wider and wider, and the icons smaller and smaller, every time you launch a new app, changing the position of the icons so you have to search for it every time.

  • @crashnoww process bar (like osx). but it's missing some key features, that the dock has. i think they were too lazy to complete the CONVERSION of the code. like real folder pinning, not that bullshit that w7 has, dynamic icons dimension, real "jump lists", apps and documents stacks and many more. so in less words it's half a dock.

  • @MRCrashFusion i don't know what makes win users think that mac users never used win. in fact is the other way around. i've been using win for a long time, and i have w7 installed on my pc, so i know pretty well how the taskbar works. the old task bar had inactive shortcuts (quicklaunch) and it only managed the applications windows. the new one manages the active apps (like osx), apps pinning (like osx), arranging apps (like osx) running apps highlighting (like osx), app commands (like osx)...

  • @crashnoww. That's a load of bull, and you know it. Have you ever worked on Windows 7 hands on? If not, you shouldn't be talking about it. The Superbar works a lot like the old taskbar, except it has big (or small) icons and previews when you hover over it. The dock is just a application manager, all it can do is open the applications and a few other things. Windows isn't using a "dock" idea, it's the taskbar with an upgrade.

  • @MRCrashFusion so what's the difference? before w7, the taskbar was a window manager with shortcuts. now it's an app manager, just like the dock. u can pin apps, move them, preview them and control them via contextual menu, just like the dock. even the download progress was copied from leopard. before w7, the dock was considered confusing, but now it's cool cuz the new superbar works the same. the difference is that os x had that for years and M$ it's just a copycat.

  • @crashnoww. The Windows Superbar (taskbar) is in no way even close to being the same as the dock. Apple Fanboys are just trying to find another reason to prove why their OS is "better". Which just proves how pothetic they (and possibly, you) are. Don't assume.
