This is a masterpiece of the history of rock guitar, and of rock music. Thanks for posting.

All I can say is........Ritchie Blackmore, greatest rock guitarist ever!

...Remove another 20 years down ;)

To OMetallica: I am surprised he didn't pick it like that from the beginning as far back as Machine Head -- his later stuff like Man on the Silver Mountain incorporated that "G" note in-between the 4ths and other stuff too, depending on what key he was playing in... Spotlight Kid and All Night Long is full of it -- good ears, OMetallica -- do you hear the pickup switching from lead to rhythm during his solos?

does anybody notices that ritchie pickes the low G between the notes when the bass comes kickin in? in the main riff :P
The way to use the scales, the bending, the classical spirit, the acting, i studied both players for years...Blackmore is the father, Malmsteen the son.

I love watching RB's versions through the ages..he gets better and better..from almost simplistic blues to bizarre blizzards of notes which are so far away from what any other player can play - such strange slides and legatos - and that magical vibrato
