  • Well the important thing is that you're happy with what you have. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about the system you have.

  • I just got to say this, a couple of grand for a cable can get me to a real concert and prbably many more. speakers cannot compare to a orchestra period. Now im sure copper does not cost that much. As for ears, yes everyone's ears is dif. but then there is the placebo effect. You are not going to tell the difference of a few extra electrons moving through the cable.

  • @KwazyTwang

The Cantons are German, and from what I've heard from my amp is they are very very accurate with the cantons almost like the stage. The only other cables that I think are okay are from kimber wiht posted specs at least from the copper range. My systems fairly balanced in term of performance and price too.

Can you justify 800+ for a cable? they have a 14 grand one too. comon thats silly. Air dieelectric 4 speakers?, do you really need that? Ask any eletrical engineer... If your cable has good purity in copper and is thick enough to carry current for your needs its fine. And i don't believe in the shrill for copper vs pure silver... maybe silver is brighter...? And also I need specs. I still see ppl with better equip then me use BJC

  • Cables make a world of difference personally there is a lot of snake oil in cable technology... its all about sifting out the crud and getting the good stuff. I have heard transparent and i can't stand them... i think they are harsh and very shrill sounding... TARA Labs (which we carry) boasts no snake oil technology and i ask anyone to come in i will put what you have up against theirs... its the REAL DEAL. It just works... real copper, in a real helix array, done in a Rectangular Solid Core.

  • It's sounds like a pretty nice little setup to me. Balanced cables,Simaudio amps. It's all there.I've never heard Canton's speakers before though. In any case, I can tell a difference. But I can't for a fact say that your wrong from your perspective. Everyone's ears are different. Which means they respond to sound differently. Even if a person has "perfect" hearing, certain frequencies can still be a lot different from person to person.

  • the transparent cables were 600/1300 and a 4000$ cable. lent by a dealer. I hope no one is gonna start of some "golden ears" crap here. Placebo effects are very common, You shouldnt need to spend more then a couple hundred on cabling, even if its really long.... Unless your trying to power footbal stadium speakers 0.0

  • Amps has been discussed a lot. from ym experience for solid states, anything above 13K for a daul mono, is more about sheer volume. this applies for manufacture's product series and moving up powering 24k speakers. The cables used in the demo, cat5 bundled together/ BJC, transparent cable, I'd say its about 10/8 awg... no difference in sound. But switching the amps around made a difference. 8 awg should be more then enough for any speakers.

  • This that make the difference...

    1. Speakers: better speakers have better detail and can reproduce very well.. especially in instrument seperation. Dif. speakers have dif. sound. anything over 20k is more about taste/sheer volume.

    2. Amps: good power and power to handle dips helps good speakers a lot upgrading this is better then expensive cable period.

    3. DAC: your source, this converts the digital to your analog, if its good it will sound good.

  • Now I've have tried dozens of cables in my sound treated room.... Athough not studio lvl equivilant of sound reduction from the outside. Its close. The only time I tell teh difference between cables is say thin cable vs thick cable. I used bananas for termination/ the locking ones from BJC very good quality.
