Arcade demo. Galaxy Force II is a sprite scaling rail shooter arcade game, released by Sega in 1988. The game which is in the tradition of Sega's successful Space Harrier is set in space. Galaxy Force II demonstrated just how far Sega could push its legendary sprite scaling technology, with the visual rendition of some levels such as when the player is flying above the surface of a volcanic planet, complete with solar flares and volcanic eruptions being nothing short of spectacular. The game was later ported to the Sega Master System, FM Towns, Commodore Amiga, Sega Mega Drive, Sega Saturn and Sony PS2 platforms. Galaxy Force II is also available on the Wii Virtual Console.

  • Always loved this game and especially it's music

  • Starfox my ass!

  • This is perfect on PS2 version as it can be run in Progressive mode! :)

  • Definetely. Look at the success of the early Star Fox titles.

  • -Galaxy Force II release dates-

    Arcade version: 1988

    FM Towns version: 1990

    Megadrive / Genesis version: 1991 / 1992

    Saturn version: 1998

    PlayStation2 version: 2007

  • What I thought this game was 1988 ...... on second thought this game looks horrible. JK. LOL. ;)

  • I always wondered how this game looked like when it played. The most I saw was from magazines. I'd love to see an updated version of this :) I know rail shooters are sort of disliked now, but they still have the potential to be fun little thrill rides :)

  • Awesome looking game. I know they released this on the regular Genesis but this game would have benefitted more on either the Sega CD or the 32X.
