Meg Rippy studies marine bacteria. Plastic pieces break up into such tiny pieces that they may also be affecting the tiniest organisms on the planet- marine bacteria. SEAPLEX scientists aboard the Scripps Institution of Oceanography vessel, New Horizon, were out to study the plastic and marine debris issue facing our ocean. Project Kaisei helped fund this expedition and Annie Crawley from Dive Into Your Imagination was aboard to document hoping to change the way a new generation views our ocean.
