Ali Ibrahim "Farka" Touré (October 31, 1939 -- March 6, 2006) was a Malian singer and guitarist, and one of the African continent's most internationally renowned musicians. Touré was ranked number 76 on Rolling Stone's list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time."

The congas, the calabash (calebasse for the French), and Ali's guitar are the only instruments used here. There's no backing guitar, keyboard, or any looping. Having said that, listen to the solo that starts at around the 2:04 mark and hear for yourself why Ali Farka Toure is considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time. He was playing the rhythm and lead parts simultaneously, giving us the impression that there was at the very least a keyboardist or backup guitarist somewhere.
