The sixth episode of Mad Men's fourth season, entitled "Waldorf Stories," aired on August 29, 2010, on AMC. Here's a recap in case you missed it:

''Waldorf Stories'' opens with Don and Peggy interviewing one of Jane's relatives, Danny, for a job at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. The young man struggles during the interview, pitching the same tired slogan for several products. Despite failing to impress, Roger recommends that they hire him, much to Don and Peggy's dismay.

In this episode, we find out how Don came to work at the agency. As Roger dictates his life story to his secretary, we see a younger Don Draper as a fur coat salesman. When Roger comes into the store to buy a gift for Joan, his new lady-friend, Don learns that he's in advertising. Don doggedly pursues Roger asking for a job. The two wind up at lunch and get very drunk. Later, Don convinces Roger that he hired him during the lunch.

Back in the present, the agency is all abuzz about the CLIO Awards ceremony at the Waldorf Hotel. Sterling Cooper wins a CLIO for the Glo Coat commercial, and Roger and Don celebrate by drinking enthusiastically. When the group is summoned back to the office to pitch to the Life Cereal executives, a drunken Don spews the same cliched slogan that he mocked earlier in the day. He also chews out Peggy about an impending deadline, ordering her to be locked in a hotel room with her co-worker, Rizzo, to work on the project. Peggy and Rizzo butt heads at every turn, but Peggy manages to make Rizzo just uncomfortable enough to get the work done.

After the Life Cereal meeting, everyone heads to the CLIO Awards after-party, where Don begins a weekend-long bender, during which he beds a series of strange women, loses his award, starts going by the name "Dick," loses track of what day it is, forgets to pick up his children, and has no memory of what he's done for the past couple of days.

Peggy, meanwhile, is angry at Don about his poor pitch to the Life Cereal execs - and she's also pretty steamed about being locked away with Rizzo on his orders. Don has no memory about either situation - but he does remedy the Life Cereal problem by hiring Danny at the agency. In doing so, Don manages to sweep the whole incident under the rug.
