on my pc i can only make a 10gb partition and my pc has 320gb of space WTF!

What is the purpose of doing a partition? Is like having another folder to store files in??
And would doing a COMPLETE format of my HD fix a B.S.O.D.??? And the starting from scratch?

The "Extend Volume" is not highlighted in the "C" and is highlighted in the "D" drive which only means that I have to give it back. What Happen??
