Last one. You have the complete video. I hope everyone enjoyed the series. I wanted to share. I knew alot of Danny fans are unaware of it and it's out of print.

  • Damn...there must be SOMETHING this guy can't do!!!

  • i saw this guy a long time ago on Austin City Limits and my jaw dropped. He did the beer bottle slide and then started playing with a dish rag on his fretting hand. This man was truly the real deal. R.I.P. Danny Gatton

  • @Thm46: Danny once sort of admitted he'd be hard-pressed to play heavy metal, and I never saw him play legit classical guitar - but I bet he could have faked it well. Other than that, the guy could play pretty much whatever he pleased. I miss you, Danny... RIP.

  • ha he tips it all in w/ a slide thing sounded as good if not better than anything

ive ever heard by all my masters duane lowell landreth ...

man cant help but get a little angry thinking he threw it all away

but that's balanced by just a humbling admiration for what the guy could do

truly t-r-u-l-y the best ive ever seen i only hope he has his peace

and thank him for what he left behind

t/y very much for this series of tubes breathtaking stuff start to finish

  • Yes, Danny scares us all. He is the monster of all monsters. Don't even go there.....we'll NEVER, EVER come near him........none of us.......Ask Clapton, Beck, Page, Holdsworth, Carlos, doesn't mater.....whom ever you think is the best. They'll all tell you. Danny was, as Neil Young put it...."in a different building."

  • Thank you so much for posting this video, it was such a tragedy when he committed suicide I cannot for the life of me understand why he didn't got more famous and made a good fortune out of his playing. It just shows there are no justice in this world. And then other so called artists make so much money it's crazy. Danny Gatton, you gotta define your musical experience pre-gatton and post-gatton :) TeleMaster!!!

  • i love the fact that during some of these vids they haven't edited out the couple of mistakes he makes, like when the amp goes wrong, and he makes no bones about them!it shows he was human, superhuman maybe, but still human and capable of a mistake or two and thats what it's all about!fantastic, and i wouldn't mind making a couple of mistakes to play like he could!

  • @kydeputy that vids on youtube :D

  • Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, Merle Travis, Glen Campbell, and many others were legends and may have achieved more fame but Mr. Gatton was equally as good if not better than anyone whoever picked a guitar.

    R.I.P.

  • I'd never heard of him till finding these videos on YouTube. He is the most amazing guitar talent I've encountered. Off to find some of his recordings....thanks for putting this up.

  • I agree, the guy seemed like a really cool person. Sorry I didn't learn his name until after his death, though I sure heard his music behind Roger Miller.
