Key observations from the Wine Industry Symposium IWITS) in Napa, California. About 400 wine industry stakeholders gathered to focus on a host of common issues/themes. Social media was a focus area, and I delivered the keynote address. One of my key arguments is that the wine industry has a unique right to win in this the area of social media because of its strong roots and foundations in customer relationship marketing. Many of the wineries here may yet have a Twitter account, but they have excellent wine-clubs and ambassador programs, and that uniquely positions them for the transition to social media.
