After the sad demise of the much loved Harrier from service, here is a chance to see the Joint Force Harrier commander himself (now Group Captain Waterfall) demonstrate the aircrafts' party piece - the vertical take off and landing capability, which for some reason was not included in the actual airshow display itself???
Filmed at RAF Coningsby during the 2006 PDA event, and at VERY close range you can experience the beauty of this almost newly refurbished 41 reserve aircraft in all its' glory.

Enjoy this, as you may never see the the likes of it again

  • But I still see them in US aircraft carriers.

  • @youtship That's because the US government aren't as short-sighted as the UK MOD and can see the worth of this fine aircraft. The Spanish and Italians still operate the Harrier too.

  • :-(

  • @ALB437 no were geting F35's from the USA

  • Always loved the harrier, shame it had to go but technology moves on, it's proved itself to be a great plane ....lets hope the Typhoon can do the same

  • It looks like an angry parrot

  • GR11 soon ready?

  • 41(R) Sqn RAF

  • 40 year old technology (improved over the years). Still I'm so impressed at the quick transition from vertical take-off to flying, 5 seconds.

  • Great Close up shots, Loved watching this 10 out of 10
