i loved this cartoon. the way they were drawn is better than some of the cartoons and annimated shows now. thanks for putting them on.

@smokinbarrel What has to be considered is the audience they were trying to reach. Also, the writers were probably very ignorant of the fact that African's had advanced civilizations (Kemet(Egypt), Nubia, Great Zimbabwe, etc), so they didn't know how to really portray Africans other than the racist stereotypes that they would have seen over the years, especially in the mid-20th century.

@rdsanchez1966 You said exactly what I was thinking. This takes place in Africa, so it is impossible for it NOT to be any Black Africans there. Even in cartoons, sadly, racism is ever present. I love this cartoon when it came out and didn't pay attention to that fact. Now I can't help but see it.

I was actually referring to this episode in particular. The ancient Greeks didn't allow women in the games previously. But in this episode there where no women at all, not even the mother of the king's son. I guess only in recent years directors and producers became more preoccupied with details in cartoons!

Which is weird, considering how Filmation typically went out of their way to show cultural diversity in their shows. You saw it in everything from "Fat Albert" to "The Shazam/Isis Hour". Maybe they didn't want to play to the stereotype of the jungle tribe? Show black people in more modern context?

Agreed, they show Mayans, Vikings, Knights, Greco-Romans, Egyptians, Space Men, Atlantians, etc. but no Black Africans. What is up with this? None the less a well written series with well designed animation.

I liked a lot this cartoons as a kid! But it is in Africa, and no Blacks. And Tarzan should throw some punches more and less like Justice League Unlimited.
