David is 100% Mormon, unreformed. Not LDS. Like the song sez, his granddad had 15 wives. At the time of this song, David only had two. Later he wrote "Me and My Wives," and he had three then. Later he brought seven wives with him on concerts. A great man and songster!!!

Many years we met David Allen in a small bar in a village in Netherlands the town was called Eelde. His performances a lasting impressoin! Not the way he performed but the fact that the swore and the Dutch reformed community did not have a clou what he was talking about and clapped !! For David Allen the tattoo still standsw.
