The Sundermount maps were released on 16 December 2011, with significant challenges and rewards!

The Bone Dragon Boss is the one to beat on the second map. After skirmishing twice with it, it returns in its third and final incarnation, with a tremendous 37.5 Hearts of life, immunity to all bombs, and is also immune to most special abilities - including any kind of stunning or paralysis effect.

Fortunately, the first two skirmishes gave me enough information to counter it. Didn't have to re-spec or change any spell slots - my generic, Carthriss-Raiding hybrid Mage setup covered enough ground to handle this dude.

Video starts with my Mage's setup. As per Poor and Lonely Style play, all I have is equipment obtained from Windfall lottery and Carthriss Raids I solo'ed myself. My inventory does show a mix of various, powerful items I have traded for - note the Unique armor at video time 03:07 - but none are used.

Most importantly, a Mage that wishes to duplicate my feat needs to:
(A) have sufficient damage resistance and life to survive all the waves and the Bone Dragon's immensely formidable magical and physical attacks. Hence my gear setup, and.
(B) have upgraded Mana Drain and Heal.

As can be seen, the Shadow Elves can barely hurt my Mage. The Bone Dragon's Onslaught and Breath attacks are magical, and its Quick Lunge is a physical attack that is quite powerful (Attack value 138). Tactically speaking, there are 3 simple steps:
- take out the healers first
- use Walking Bomb on the other Shadow Elves as far as possible so that when they chain-detonate, the Bone Dragon takes a lot of hurt
- finally, when going one-on-one with the Bone Dragon, alternate between defensive spells, Mana Drain, Heal, and offense.

And there you go. I wonder what the next Boss is like?

Video end shows my upgrades of the NPCs', but notice the change is not reflected until the game is refreshed.

My "Guild" comprises NPCs' and I've inserted both my alternate characters, Warrior and Rogue, but I don't need them for these battles anyway, as this video clearly demonstrates.

  • what do i need to do to improve my health?

  • @DeanVanR Add to Stamina. Every 5 Stamina points = half a heart of Health.

In this case, however, it's not just the high Health that prompted me to add to Stamina - it's also the Energy to do Raids without any need for energy pills/potions.
