Spring Maxfield, co-producer of the Santa Rosa Handcar Regatta shares the origin story of the famous steampunk arts event.

Local street events are the new marketplace, the new think tanks for stimulating creativity and the imagination.

Spring shares her story, her shared vision of the imagining and production of a local street event.

Frustrated by sitting on public and private art boards Spring and her "wonderful, creative friends" side stepped the feasibility studies and like the Little Rascals "...put on a show". What a terrific show it was.

I wasn't at this talk, but Spring has always generously shared credit when speaking about Handcar. I'm sure this is only part her presentation.

For the record. Kernan Coleman of Ranch 7 Creative is solely responsible for the creation of the graphics package and name of the Handcar Regatta.

These ideas and images are his alone and were created from his imagination without input from others. It's unfortunate that this was not convey clearly.

It's also unfortunate that Ms. Maxfield fails to mention the other creators of the Regatta. The Regatta is not the vision of one single individual but of a group working together.

Where is the mention of Ty Jones?

Where is the mention of David Farish, Skye Barnett and Clifford Hill who built the vehicle that was the inspiration for the event?

Where is the mention of Theresa Hughes who designed the look and feel of the event?

Where is the mention of Kernan Coleman who created all of the graphic images and characters?

Where is the mention of Meredith Johnson, Jess Flood, Heather Prandini, Marcos Ramirez, etc. etc.

She did it all alone? Came up with it herself? Not.
