When I inteviewed Jimmy White he told me about this movie that he was in a long time ago called "DESPERATE GENERATION" that was kinda like MFS
but 10 years ago..He gave me a VHS and it sent me back when I started hanging around the "Scene"... Seeing the Shifters and the Lucky Devils
from back in the dayz was really cool. It's sorta New Skool but Ol Skool..
awww the days before the "Rat Rod" term was coined!!! just good ol Hot Rods...

Any ways I was introduced to Emily Dutton who made the film for film school when she was 19. I thought it need to be shown to the masses...It has allot of familare faces and to see where these people are today is cool..still keeping the tradition alive!!!

  • @harleydp2 hahaha u are so full of shit! hahahahahaha

  • It never died here, but admit trends did change. Ohwell, Britt cars suck anyway!

  • Your right. Traditional hot rods never died in socal!

  • Harleydp2, southern california has ALWAYS had everything street car style wise and has never stopped. We just don't have major trends like you Brits do. But believe me, the love has never died and the young people in it today, all have parents and grandparents who were in it yesterday.

  • harleydp2, The Shifters and a small group of other true Rockabillies were indeed doing this in the 80's as well! I have many pictures of them hanging about in a rebellious manner - at the Great Labor Day Cruise in Orange County.

  • thats awfully closed minded of you.Its not like americans weren't still building/driving tra rods, and customs in the 70s and 80s and 90s. Youth got out of it, but it was still around.

Also, Amricans were doing it when it was happening. So, WE started he current fascination of traditional hotrods, because most of the iconic cars from the day are AMERICAN built.

I agree on bandwagon jumpers though, offy intakes for Y's have doubled in price over the past five years.

  • erm no i think you'll find that the Low Flyers from england started the resurgance back up in the 80s over here in the UK

back when you americans were build billet clad street rods

we started all this current fascination with trad hot rods

hopefully soon all the band wagon jumpers will be gone and the price of parts will be back down to what they used to be in the 90's

  • I don't know about all these comments...I just thought the whole culture of built cars and music was incredible. I think I'll attend the next Car show in my city. Thanks

  • Seriously who`s version of squad car is this?

  • That was so bitchin I almost had an orgasum!!!
