I think what he meant was that the people wanted Obama, obviously, since he was ahead by so much, but that the market is also a living a breathing being. And since this being didn't like Obama, who was just a Presidential candidate, it's showing its dislike by flushing itself down the toilet, since it cannot speak. Forget that Bush was the President for close to 8 years at the time, the reason why the economy was so bad was because a guy who the market did not like decided to run for President.
