I was fortunate to have seen Trip Shakespeare about 10 times live, before and after Dan joined. They really deserved more success. I remember one time when Dan's brother Matt was sick and couldn't sing and Dan just sang all the songs. Brilliant show.

it's amazing to me that there are millions of "covers" of this song that have millions of hits, when here is the original song from the person who wrote the song. Dan.. @davemcgee I also have a partial recording of Closing Time but since I was dead center and in Dan's line of sight, it felt a bit disrespectful to record his entire set. I'm not sure if there are any other recordings as there were not many spots to record from
