Male Downey Woodpecker is over from the woods. They come twice a day, usually mid morning and mid afternoon. The males are skiddish and tend to duke it out with each other. When two females come the late-comer tends generally to wait until the other finishes. All other birds but the mocking birds show them defference. This is in Herndon, Virginia on May 9, 2010. I am Dale.
