Found this little ball of baby spiders nesting above the garden in my backyard. This is the third of its kind I've seen and the first I've been fortunate enough to film! Woohoo!
The footage was roughly 20 minutes in length, but I sped it up because the spiders seem to take their sweet time getting back into cozy ball form.
Also, the first time I saw one of these, I thought it was a bunch of plant seeds stuck in a web. I sure was wrong!

I hope you enjoy!

  • You will need:

    - A can of flammable spray

    - A lighter

  • these look like common house/garden spiders i usually get the odd nest on my decking in the summer :)!

  • I dare u to grab a jar and poke really tiny holes and snatch all of the babies and feed them some insects and wen hey gro up set them free and far away from ur house

  • -video starts- me: oh look that's pretty cool :D *person filming shakes web and spiders start moving* OH SWEET JESUS! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

  • you shold of stepped on them with a BOOT

  • Anywon wanna babysit the fellas?

  • Why do they ball up like that?

  • Forgot to mention it is one of the world's most common spiders.

  • These are baby Araneus spiders. Probably A. Diadematus. Adult females body length is around 20mm. Called the Cross Spider (the adult has white markings on its abdomen in a cross shape), and in Europe the Garden Spider (here in the US the Garden Spider is Argiope Arauntia).

  • I remember seeing these on the side of a school portable when I was like 8.. I couldn't figure out what the ball was and decided to poke it with my finger, and when the ball disassembled I totally freaked out and couldn't believe my eyes.. It's cool to see that this has actually been captured on film.
