Lesson learned - People don't simply act the way they do but different cultures and environments they grow up with make it all happened. Instead of taking offend from rude person, why don't u ask urself why he act that way.
But but but....if certain culture is very rude or even illegal like for example mutilation, headhunting just saying, will u give it a green light too? hmmmm

I live in India and I've visted USA twice, however I never got a cultural shock. I think the people in America are friendly and more open. I know some people who have recently migrated to Australia, they say the same things that this Olga is talking about.

Olga, I'm from Thailand where is the South East of Asia. You just like my country people such as nice smile, sensitive, shy, and Krang-Jai(Krang-Jai is Thai word I don't know how to say in English; its mean is you hesitate to get help from someone); sorry if you don't along with me, but if you do I have some suggestion for you it will make you more comfortable at that place,
Yes, I agree with Dave "When in Rome do as the Romans do" when you at home, but at work please do what is you think right.

I liked it very much and I laughed a lot with your shocked gestures when Olga mentioned Australians were "fake".

We are "rude" or "inpolite" toward other people not because we want to upset them, but because it's our lifestyle :D We can without ceremony say the same things about ourselves. May be it is a real reason why we do this. We don't think that it is wrong
About your friend's trip - yes, officials/workers of public services in Russia are very morose. People in public places isolate themselves. But most of them are very friendly in informal atmosphere. They also like shaking arms and speak loudly =)

In my opinion I think the reason why Dave takes so much time is because he is so passionate about the subject and if you listen the way he is speaking on this video you can easily tell that he is speaking from the heart and he wants us to feel at home. I don't mind watching Dave's longer version of videos.
