Dingell Town Hall Meeting 8-6-09 raw

The USCCB has concerns about federal funding of abortion in H.R. 3200 "America's Affordable Health Choices Act".

The legislation delegates to the Secretary of Health and Human Services the power to make abortion a basic or essential benefit in all health plans, or in the public
plan created by the legislation.

This video is taken outside of the Romulus Town Hall Meeting. The event was terribly organized. Only 1/3 of the people who showed up were able to fit into the meeting space. They had to add a 2nd meeting that night which still left people outside and unable to attend. About 6:15pm Debby Dingell came outside to answer questions and assure the crowd that they would try to hold a 2nd meeting immediately after the conclusion of the scheduled event.

Emotions were high but the majority of the dialogue taking place outside was civil.

There is a link at the side of this video to a letter issued by the USCCB. The USCCB does have the kind of intellectual body that is required to wade through the entire bill and then voice concerns about that bill. If you are here to report that Dingell "emphatically says NO!" and you have not read the part of the bill that is sparking the concern, then why do you feel the need to comment here? Have you read the bill? Have you read the USCCB letter? Catholics are paying attention.
