This is my entry for the HAMSA "Dream Deferred" Essay Contest. The film documents Matthew VanDyke's experiences in Libya, his brushes with civil rights violations, and how we should contribute to the Arab Spring. Please feel free to leave feedback if you enjoyed or want to know more!

Question Prompt:

"Viral Video: You have been given $1,000 to make a short video (1-4 mins) about individual rights in the Mideast. Share the script for your video, which can expose repression, showcase a campaign, or dream of a better future. bonus: Make the film and provide a YouTube link."

"A Dream Deferred"- Langston Hughes

What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?
