Wonderfully restrained and mellow version (arrangement and vocal) of this popular tune from 1930.
Recorded October 15th 1930. Vocal chorus/talking by Jack Payne.

  • What a treat. Was it Marius B Winter who recorded the barnstorming version with Al Bowlly? This is totally different, yet just as much a delight. It's nice to hear the Payne band at a leisurely yet stylish lope. And Payne himself does a fine job.

  • @soundsofthe30s It was Marius B. Winter who recorded a version with Al Bowlly, (which I have also uploaded).

  • I've got one of those pyramid type Needle Tins - worth quite a bit! Someone wanted mine from me years ago and offered me quite a bit, but I wouldn't sell.

  • One of Payne`s best interpretation`s.
